French Silk Chocolate Pie

Makes 1 8-inch pie
Preparation Time
2 hours, 15 minutes (15 minutes prep, 2 hours to chill)
Ingredients
- 1 prepared 8-inch pastry shell, baked and cooled
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- whipped cream (optional)
- walnuts (optional)
Directions
- cream butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming well. Blend in melted and thoroughly cooked chocolate and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating 5 minutes after each addition with an electric mixer on medium speed. Pour into cooled, baked pie shell.
- chill for at least 2 hours. Top with whipped topping and walnuts, if desired.
