Stuffing

Serves 4-6
Preparation Time
2 hours (15 minutes prep, 1 hour 45+ minutes bake time)
Ingredients
- 1 white onion, diced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 celery stalks, sliced
- 1/4 cup butter
- 10 oz bag bread crumbs
- 2 eggs
- chicken broth (~1/2 cup)
- 2 8-ounce packages cream cheese
- salt and ground pepper to taste
- all purpose seasonings to taste
- thyme to taste
- sage to taste
Directions
- saute diced onion in butter until onion is translucent
- add parsley and celery; stir
- place bread crumbs in a large mixing bowl; melt 1/4 cup butter and pour over bread crumbs. Add onion/parsley/celery mixture to bread crumbs and stir well.
- add two raw eggs and mix.
- heat chicken broth and add to bread crumbs until moist but not soggy.
- add cream cheese and spices; mix well.
- if cooking a turkey, place the stuffing inside the turkey and bake per the turkey recipe. Otherwise, baste casserole dish with butter and add stuffing. Cover with aluminum foil, then cover with lid.
- Bake at 325 for 2 hours.
